Obsession of the moment: City Creator

citycreator.jpg

Enjoy the game SimCity, but don't like actually having to run the city afterwards? Well, here's something right up your alley, then -- an online project called City Creator, which takes the city-creation part of SimCity and turns it into its own freestanding game/design challenge. Choose from three scenarios while there, from a medieval setting to a ultra-modern one; then using a clever front-end combination of DOM and Javascript (or ECMAScript, to be specific), you can then drag and drop pre-designed pieces from that city right into your blank canvas, move them around, selectively delete them or just start all over with the touch of a button.

Anyway, it's a diversion highly recommended by me, although be aware that this site is a time sucker, one you can spend an entire morning at without realizing you've done so. You've been warned!
