The Neo-Futurists want your zine

Many thanks to CCLaP favorite Gapers Block for bringing this to my attention...

Many Chicagoans, of course, are fans already of the Neo-Futurists theatre company; along with a series of traditional shows over the years, they are also the long-running producers of "Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind," in which the troupe attempts to perform 30 plays in 60 minutes, their order randomly chosen by the audience. Well, now the Neo-Futurists are looking for a copy of your zine or other self-published material; they've decided to open a library in their theatre's lobby, in fact, as a way to entertain those who show up early for their shows. ("Too Much Light" sells out almost every performance, for those who don't know; on some nights, audience members start showing up hours before the performance, just to guarantee a seat.)

Anyway, you can send a copy of your zine if you want to The Neo-Futurists, attn: Tiny Zine Library, 5153 N Ashland Ave, Chicago, IL 60640 (USA); or if you live in Chicago, feel free to just drop it off the next time you're in the neighborhood. This is a great way to get a lot of exposure for your self-published material; there are literally tens of thousands of people who march in and out of that lobby every year, most of them highly literary themselves and constantly on the look for new work in the underground arts. Don't pass this opportunity up!

Oh, and a little trivia for those of you who don't live in Chicago -- that the Neo-Futurists count among its alumni Lisa Buscani (Pushcart Prize nominee and executive director of The Poetry Center of Chicago), Greg Kotis (co-creator of Broadway smash Urinetown), and Ayun Halliday (author of the zine "The East Village Inky" and numerous books, as well as a regular contributor to Bust, Bitch, and Utne Reader). And if you do live in Chicago and still have never seen a show by this amazing theatre company...well, what could you possibly be waiting for? Go see them!
