Announcing the CCLaP Movie Club

googlegroups.jpg

All right, it's official; the masses have spoken! Well, okay, so maybe it was only a couple of you who have so far expressed an interest in a CCLaP-owned Google Group related to the "Movies for Grown-Ups" series of film essays here, wherein I give people plenty of advanced warning about what movies are coming up, along with study material they can check out if they want, as well as the opportunity to express their own opinions and debate that film's merits with other clubgoers. But hey, setting up a new Google Group is free, so really I only needed the interest of only a couple of people to justify doing such a thing!

Anyway, you can go sign up for the group yourself by clicking here, although please be aware that you need a free Google account to do so. (Own a GMail or GTalk address? Then yes, you have a Google account already as well.) Don't forget, you as an individual control the way that club mail is delivered -- either in real time as they're posted, one big "digest" at the end of each day, or not delivered at all (i.e. you read the messages at the Google Group website); go to your account settings while there to change the option to whichever you want. And also don't forget, if I get enough Chicago residents to sign up as well, I'll start scheduling some physical social events too; for example, perhaps a group outing to the Brew N View next weekend to see the Edgar Wright/Simon Pegg double-feature Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, if you want an idea of what the typical outing would be like. I look forward to your participation!
