Had an idea for a new project pop into my head this weekend, so thought I'd share it with readers and see what you thought...
As many of us already know, there is just a plethora of audio and video artists out there who do not maintain online presences (like a blog, podcast, even a YouTube account), for a whole variety of reasons -- because they don't produce enough work to warrant such a thing, because they lack the technical know-how, sometimes simply because they're too busy making new projects. I, however, have plenty of time and technical know-how to do such a thing, which got me to wondering; that if I were to start a new podcast here at CCLaP, dedicated to experimental work from underground audio and video artists, would you artists take advantage of it?
I'm thinking of calling it the "CCLaP Podiophonic Laboratory," a play off the old BBC Radiophonic Workshop, and it would work pretty much like CCLaP's main podcast does as well; entries here at the site, streaming online versions, its own RSS feed, and its own iTunes channel, although I would only update it intermittently (whenever I had something new to post, that is), instead of on a regular schedule. That way the artists themselves don't have to futz around with the technical side of maintaining a podcast, but instead could just directly release their work to what is currently a mid-sized audience and growing every day. (For those who don't know, this site had a little under 11,000 unique visitors its first month, and is set to have even more by the time July is over.)
Anyway, if any audio or video artists out there would be interested in taking advantage of such a thing, definitely leave a comment or drop me a direct line at cclapcenter [at] gmail.com; as regular readers know, it takes only the tiniest amount of interest from readers for me to go ahead and put plans like this in motion, so definitely don't be shy when it comes to having your voice be heard. Hope you're as excited about this idea as I am!
