The CCLaP Digest: A sneak peek

The CCLaP Digest: A sneak peek

Have I mentioned, by the way, that four times a year I'll be collecting up all the book reviews, movie reviews and personal essays published here, and releasing them in a printer-friendly digest form? Think of it as the paper version of a literary journal, except for the paper; it'll be laid out like normal pages in a normal magazine, with photos embedded within the edges of the articles themselves, totaling something like 250 pages by the time the whole thing is done. (Yes, that's right, I write giant honkin' reviews. You gotta problem with that?)

Actually, I'm sure there will be some paper involved with the digest, because that's the entire reason for publishing it; because I figure that some of you will probably have missed a couple of these by the time summer is over, or maybe have a couple that you want to print out in paper form for another reason, and don't mind providing the paper and ink yourself in return for me releasing the eBook for free. But then again, I'm also expecting a certain amount of you to appreciate the digest form for the same reason I do; because you're straight eBook readers, and don't need the paper at all, but do appreciate a book formatted for your specific device (which is why the CCLaP Digest will be coming in PDF form for both American and European printers, PDB for Palms, LIT for Microsoft Mobiles/PocketPCs, and a specially formatted PDF for Sony Readers).

It's just an option I wanted to provide about four times a year here, as a thank-you for those who choose to be readers; that is, a way to read this website's contents for those who will always prefer books and magazines to blogs, God bless your Luddite souls for coming by. There's not a lot of you, but I do appreciate you being here, and it only takes me about a week to put together all these eBook formats, so I do it as a way of saying 'hey.' Anyway, there above is what the cover of issue 1 (summer 2007) will look like; and you can right-click here to download the full 8 1/2 x 11 PDF version, if you want to see it in detail. Full digest will be coming the week after Labor Day (second week of September)!
