So, finally, a little good news to report: that after unceremoniously spilling an entire glass of tea on my old Mac keyboard last week and shorting out several keys, I was actually able to scrape up the money for another one this weekend and go out and get it. And even better, which is why I'm posting about it in the first place -- I don't know how many people know this already (I certainly didn't), but Apple actually just released a brand-new version of their basic keyboard a couple of weeks ago, news of which I guess got buried under all the excitement of the new iPods and iPhones and Starbucks deals and all the rest. The new keyboard is aluminum, as a matter of fact, to match the look and feel of Apple's current laptops; it also has a new kind of keyboard layout, with wider buttons and less space between them, as well as dedicated buttons for the first time for such things as iTunes playback, calling up the Dashboard, muting the sound and more. What's of most interest, though, as you can see in the above photo, is that Apple is using a cutting-edge type of button as well, making the entire keyboard literally the depth of two credit cards stacked on top of each other.
Anyway, like I said, I had no idea Apple had released this new keyboard, and figured a lot of other people didn't either, which is why I thought I'd share the news and a quick image of it. And now that I have a new keyboard, of course, it's back to the daily grind here at CCLaP, including the posting of three more Booker-nominated book reviews this week, as well as the center's upcoming feature on filmmaker Joe Swanberg. Sorry for the delay, and thanks for sticking in there!
