So first, an important disclosure: that I do some daytime marketing work for Chicago t-shirt company Toghaus, so of course have something to gain by saying nice things about them here. That said, I'm a big fan of the company, which is why I help out in the first place, and is also why I wanted to make a little mention of them here today. Started by professional Flash developer and electronica fan Erik Kittlaus, the company bills itself as the maker of "urban transit wear;" among several other examples, they sell t-shirts displaying each and every one of the 144 train stations that make up the Chicago transit system, available in any color of ink you want and on any color of shirt. What makes Toghaus especially cool, then, is that they do one-off screen printings for each order that comes in (versus the cheaper and tackier iron-on way that many companies do it), using an ingenious little storefront set-up Erik put together over on the city's west side. And yes, they do take large custom orders (and in fact make most of their money printing things like band shirts and the like); and yes, you can literally drive right up to the door of the printing space when the order is ready, and pick up your shirts literally without leaving your car.
Anyway, the Toghaus website is in the middle of a major overhaul these days, and the first part of it just went online in time for the holidays; that's what prompted today's entry, is that I'm very happy with how the new site design looks and wanted to let everyone know about it. I hope you end up enjoying the things you see over there as much as I do.
