Today's photo of the day is entitled "Central Iron Works," and is by Mike Innocenzi. Mike's based out of Chicago, and has a personal blog as well for those who are interested; this in particular is a shot from the city's North Center neighborhood, featuring one of an endless series of complex Industrial-Age swinging iron fire stairs, thousands of which were rather artlessly tacked onto the sides of buildings here during the beginning of the 20th century. You can still find such massive contraptions just everywhere in Chicago; it's a source of perpetual fascination among all my European friends who have visited the city themselves.
Don't forget that I actually maintain a whole page of favorite photographs over at Flickr, for those who would like to see more. To express an interest in having your own work featured, just drop me a line at cclapcenter [at] gmail.com.
