Just a short note to let everyone know that the installation of Movable Type 4.1 is now complete here at CCLaP, and that all the details concerning the site's back pages are now sorted out: both of the master archive pages are now working (by date and by category), and all the archive URLs are now showing up with proper underscores instead of dashes, and all of the archived pages are now even showing the more legible Verdana typeface for the fine print, and without the needless indented first sentence anymore. Slobber away, you stupid perfectionist design nerd, you!
By the way, my fellow Movable Type customers who are also hosting podcasts, things have suddenly gotten a lot easier with version 4.1 of the software; turns out that the customized plug-in we've all been using to create the "meta" information Apple requires for official iTunes channels, Arvind Satyanarayan's CustomFields, has become so popular that Six Apart simply bought it from him, and now are including it as a free option in v4.1 to any Professional-level customer. Simply look for the option under "Preferences" to set the customized fields themselves; Apple publishes a useful guide to what custom fields you need to add to your Podcast category/feed in order for it to work as an official iTunes channel, while Six Apart has recently published its own guide to the new option.
(And don't worry, all of you like me who were using CustomFields as a plug-in before; simply delete the plug-in from your website, and the new 4.1 version will even remember the custom fields you defined before, meaning that you don't have to do any damn work at all. How wonderful is that? Arvind did a huge write-up on the subject last month, for those who would like to learn more; and of course let's not forget Adrian Sevitz' still-excellent tutorial on what exact custom fields you need to add for your iTunes channel to work, and how exactly to add them using CustomFields.)
