Today's photo of the day is entitled "Matiasma," and is by a Flickr member known only as "Miladysparis." Milady doesn't mention anything about herself at her profile, either, but does give us the explanation behind the photo's title: "To avoid the matiasma, those who believe in it wear a charm: a little blue marble glass with an eye painted on it or a blue bracelet. Blue is believed to be the color that wards off the evil eye but it is also believed that people with blue eyes are givers of the matiasma."
Don't forget that I actually maintain a whole page of favorite photographs over at Flickr, for those who would like to see more. To express an interest in having your own work featured, just drop me a line at cclapcenter [at] gmail.com.
