It's always a sign of healthiness in a city's literary community, when major events just happen to fall on the same evening, although kinda sucks of course for all of us wanting to attend both events. In this case, the coincidence happens tonight, June 26th; things start, in fact, over at the Fixx reading series in Lakeview (at Fixx Coffeehouse, 3053 N Sheffield, starting at 7:30 pm), hosted by CCLaP's old friend Amy Güth, which along with Aaron Belz and Peter Davis is featuring yet another CCLaP friend, Nick Ostdick. My GOD, that's a lot of hyperlinks.
Dedicated lit fans, then, can hop on their bike after that and book over to the Logan Square neighborhood (specifically to Ronny's, 2103 N California, starting at 8 pm), to attend the release party for issue 28 of THE2NDHAND, a small but prestigious publication that has now outlasted even most of its critics. It costs $6 and will feature performances by a whole slew of people; I wanted to specifically mention Jill Summers, though, who seems to be getting more and more press and fans here in Chicago every time I look. Here's hoping I'll see you at either one or the other tonight!
