Below are simple links to other interesting stuff I've come across on the web in the last day or two; they may or may not concern literature or photography, or indeed the arts at all. You can click here to learn more about how I compile this list and what software I use, if you're interested.
Con artist with no credentials convinces entire town he's a Homeland Security agent
Must be read to be believed: Fired small-town cop, feeling petty and weak, drives a few towns over, declares himself "secret agent" of Homeland Security, and fools the entire city for months, leading to dozens of warrantless arrests. I'm...flabbergasted.
Chicago suburb cancels Broadway play for containing the word 'nigger'
In one of the most cowardly decisions I've seen in a long time, the Wilmette Park District decides to cancel a production of the award-winning Broadway musical "Ragtime," since the 1800s period piece contains the word 'nigger.' Un-f-cking-believable.
Seven years later, still no clue as to who mailed anthrax after 9/11
Billions of dollars and almost a decade later, the thousands of employees who make up Homeland Security still have no clue who mailed anthrax to Washington right after 9/11, or even if it was a lone person or a group. Ladies and gentlemen, The Bush Years.
Don't forget: Your "Hancock" ticket money goes to pay for a Scientology school
The NY Daily News reminds us that Will Smith is actually opening a private school this fall that teaches Scientology principles to little children; and that every time you shell out ten bucks for crap like "Hancock," you're helping to pay for it.
SAG: Will the pampered crybabies strike or won't they?
The Screen Actors Guild's contract with Hollywood producers actually expired yesterday; but there's still no new contract, and the actors are refusing to strike too, leaving everyone in this weird undefined legal limbo. C'mon, pussies, make a decision!
Report: Less than half of GOP's biggest donators have given money to McCain
More bad news for national punching-bag John McCain: a review of finance reports shows that of the top 500 Republican donators, less than half have contributed to his Prez campaign at this point. It's nice, frankly, to see the neocons in such chaos.
