Today's photo of the day is entitled "Green Mill Cocktail Lounge," and is by a Flickr member who goes by the online handle "the Comtesse DeSpair." DeSpair is from Chicago, and has a great personal site for those who would like to see more; for those who don't know, the Green Mill has several layers of history attached to it, being not only the speakeasy where Al Capone spent a lot of his time during Prohibition, and not only the first regular venue for contemporary jazz legend Patricia Barber, but also the birthplace of the poetry-slam format back in the late 1980s. (And on a personal note, it happens to be five minutes from my apartment as well, in the Uptown neighborhood where we're both located.)
Don't forget that I actually maintain a whole page of favorite photographs over at Flickr, for those who would like to see more. To express an interest in having your own work featured, just drop me a line at cclapcenter [at] gmail.com.
