I'm unfortunately still in suburban St. Louis, so won't be able to attend myself; but for those of you in Chicago, I just wanted to remind you that tonight is the big sixth anniversary party for local arts-and-entertainment guide Gapers Block, founded and run by a friend of mine named Andrew Huff. (In fact, I've interviewed Andrew before for the CCLaP Podcast, for those who would like to know more.) GB throws parties all the time, to be frank, but this one is bigger than normal; it's taking place at infamous live-music club Metro (on Clark Street, across the street from Wrigley Field), and will feature such bands as Nikki Lynette, The Hood Internet, Blane Fonda (featuring ex-members of The Sapiens), and Panda Riot. And best of all, it's free if you show up before 9:30 pm, and only six bucks after that! How can you go wrong, really? Anyway, for those of you in town, I highly encourage you to start off your long Labor Day weekend in such a fashion; I'm disappointed that I'm not going to have a chance to attend myself.
