Did you know that CCLaP has its own Facebook group? It does! I've been downplaying it here recently, frankly, because I got annoyed at the fact that group updates at FB don't show up on people's Walls, making them in effect closed systems that are awfully easy to forget about; I've been instead encouraging readers of this site to simply add my personal FB account to their list of friends, which of course all of you are still welcome to do, as long as you don't mind the occasional in-joke there that only old college buddies of mine get. But I've been told that Facebook is in the process of changing this policy regarding groups, and that updates at group pages are now more and more showing up in people's individual live-feed Walls as well, and so that's why I've decided to start promoting CCLaP's own group page a little more. Don't forget, I post an item both there and at my personal account each time I put up a new review at the main website; I really encourage people to use those posts as a way to discuss with each other not only those books and movies but also what you think of my write-ups of them, in a real-time way that's much more dynamic than the traditional delay-heavy comment system here at the main site.
(And in fact the delay in comment posts here at the main site is done very deliberately, because as I've mentioned many times already, I detest the trolls and flame wars that are so easily encouraged by such traditional blog commenting systems. I am constantly on the lookout for some sort of "reputation economy" style commenting system for this blog, where people get to literally vote on the comments that others are leaving, with those comments moving up and down on the page depending on how informative they're deemed by others to be; if some young developer out there is working on a system and would like an enthusiastic guinea pig to serve as an alpha tester, by all means drop me a line at cclapcenter at gmail.com and let me know.)
And while we're on the subject, by the way, don't forget that CCLaP's newest original book, Too Young to Fall Asleep by Sally Weigel, has its own separate Facebook group run by Sally herself, 165 members strong now and with new members joining all the time. The book's popularity continues to grow at a rate that astounds us all -- total downloads recently passed the 600 mark, and it's also now received $300 in voluntary payments, an impressive amount for an electronic book handed out for free and that hasn't yet received even a single formal review. I encourage you to join both these groups and become an active part of CCLaP's growing community.
