Hey, look at what showed up the other day on the Facebook page of the Republican National Committee, and that stayed up for hours and hours until a national outcry finally convinced RNC officials to stop by and take it down. The "Loving v. Virginia" court case that this image is arguing should be repealed, by the way, is the one that legalized interracial marriage in this country. Read all about it over at Newsweek.
Below are simple links to other interesting stuff I've come across on the web in the last day or two; they may or may not concern literature or photography, or indeed the arts at all. You can click here to learn more about how I compile this list and what software I use, if you're interested.
Export all your Google Docs files in one small process
They occasionally get complaints about some of their processes not working, but you have to credit Google for being one of the only companies out there at least dedicated to the easy and trouble-free exporting of user data, both for archival purposes and in case that user feels like switching to a competitor. And this week they added a major new feature regarding this subject to their online office-app suite, Google Docs; through just a three-step process, you can now automatically export every single file you have there into a giant ZIP archive you can keep on your local hard drive at home. Nice. I'd love to see Flickr offer this kind of service for all the photos one uploads to their account there, hint-hint, hint-hint.

Facebook CEO records video to prove to loser friends that guy actually works there
Friends of new Facebook employee Dan Muriello refused to believe that he actually got a job there; so ultra-famous company CEO Mark Zuckerberg (who's having a Hollywood movie made about him as we speak) recorded an amateur video for Dan to post at his FB account, indeed confirming that he really had been hired. Now THAT's how to be the ultimate cool-ass boss.

Chicago alderman creates neighborhood election on how to spend money
So first, a disclosure, that I'm an acquaintance of Chicago northside alderman Joe Moore; but that said, he's done something recently that I think is pretty cool, creating a series of town-hall meetings eventually culminating in a ward-wide election, to let neighborhood citizens directly decide for themselves how to spend the million dollars in infrastructure improvement money that each alderman in Chicago receives each year. According to him, this will be the first urban neighborhood in the entire country to ever try such a direct-democracy approach to improvement funds; if it goes well, he plans on making it a permanent process.
