The CCLaP Quadruple Book Release Party and Performance Extravaganza

Well, what do you know -- it's finally time for CCLaP's next big local live event! I've been putting it off, to tell you the truth, because I wanted to wait for something truly special, and now we finally have it; I'm proud to announce that we're throwing a big giant quadruple release party for four of the center's books all at once, on August 10th from 7 to 9 pm over at local hipster destination Beauty Bar in the Noble Square neighborhood (1444 W. Chicago Avenue). For those who still don't know, this is to mark the introduction this summer of CCLaP's paper publishing program, known as the "Hypermodern Editions" to borrow the term from the book-collecting world for high-quality titles that are less than thirty years old; by the time August rolls around, in fact, there will be four CCLaP titles available in this format, including Mark R. Brand's Life After Sleep and Jason Fisk's Salt Creek Anthology (both out right now), Sally Weigel's Too Young to Fall Asleep (coming out tomorrow!), and Ben Tanzer's 99 Problems (coming August 1st), and it's these four titles that we'll be celebrating on that Wednesday night.

Anyway, like I said, the get-together will be happening from 7 to 9 pm, and will feature free food and a cash bar; from 8 to 8:30 will also be short performances from all four authors, plus a special surprise guest or two. All four books will be for sale that night as well, for $20 apiece, or on that night only you'll be able to purchase all four titles bundled together for the ridiculously low price of $50, which is almost like buying two and getting two free, so do remember to bring some extra cash if you're attending that night! And speaking of which, there is both a Facebook page for the event, and an iCal (ICS) file; between the two, you should be able to automatically add the event details to just about any calendar program out there you might use. There will be lots more coming to the blog about this over the next 30 days -- I intend this to be the biggest event so far in the center's four-year history, so we'll be doing a lot of promotional work for it -- but for now I hope you'll have a chance to pencil it into your calendar right this moment, so that you too will have a chance to come out for what promises to be a memorable night. More details coming soon!
