Today's photography profile features the work of Federica Vangelisti, an Italian college student and world traveler. I asked Federica if she would tell us a little about herself, and here's what she had to say...

"I am Federica Vangelisti, a 21-year old young Italian lady, photographer and student in Communication Studies. I am based in the city where I was born, Forte dei Marmi, surrounded by the Alps, the Mediterranean Sea and the charming landscapes of Tuscany. Tuscany is a wonderful place to live: here you can really breath history all around you and you can see places where the competitive and fast modern life seems to have no power. Despite my love for Tuscany I really need to travel around as more as I can. Changing location give you the chance to know different people, cultures, habits and to see things from a different point of view. I have been taking pictures since childhood, trying to catch up the most important moments of my life. It started as a part-time activity: for me was just great to bring my memories with me all the time, to have images of the place where I had been, the people I met, the emotions I felt. It took just a few months to become one of the most important things of my life. Nowadays is not just to find the good moment to press the button. My idea of photography is a way of life: there are no days where I do not think about new stories to tell. It is a perpetual research of styles, techniques, feelings: I try to represent things with different perspectives which are not always clearly comprehensible for everyone.

"My work is a mixture of passions, older and newer techniques, reality and dreams. I enjoy the idea of trying every day different styles and techniques. My work is made by analogic films and digital cameras, light leaks, HDR, saturation, B&W, landascapes, details, portraits, in an explosion of creative feelings. What I love most is using analogic films and print them at home, watching the colors changing, the shapes evolving. Giving birth to my dreams and my deep feelings.

"My dreams for future are...well, the real question is what I do not wish to do in future. I am a very curious and passionate person, and because of this, I like planning and dreaming future projects and goals in every moment. I see myself in future travelling around the globe, discovering wild nature, far away from turistical areas. Breathing pure air. Just me, my cameras and the sunshine. And of course, moonlight too."

Thanks very much, Federica! Don't forget, you can see a lot more of her amazing work at her personal website. And to make your own suggestion as to a photographer who should be featured here, please feel free to drop me a line at cclapcenter [at] gmail.com.
