Yippee! After a long hiatus, I'm happy to say that CCLaP's "virtual author tours" are starting up again this year in earnest; today, in fact, is the launch date for the first one of the year, supporting Chicago writer Jason Fisk and his hyperfiction project Salt Creek Anthology from last summer. For those who don't know, a virtual book tour is pretty much like a physical book tour, only instead of bookstores that author hops from one blog to the next, one each weekday for a total this time of two weeks; and instead of traditional signing sessions, that author does a whole series of interesting things for all the blogs that are hosting them -- so one day you may see a text interview with that author, the next day a podcast episode, the next day a special new essay by that author on a specific literary subject, the next day a special new MP3 reading from the book, the next day perhaps a video interview at YouTube. The whole thing hinges on the graciousness of the bloggers actually participating, who I have to confess are going to a lot of trouble in some cases to finish up and post their stop's content; today, for example, the tour kicks off over at CCLaP friend Lori Hettler's great "The Next Best Book Blog," an outgrowth of her "Next Best Book Club" over at social network Goodreads.com (and which happens to be the largest member group there among its millions of participants). The full schedule can be found below; if a name is hyperlinked, it means that particular tour stop is now online and ready for you to check out...
Monday, 2/27: Victor David Giron's Curbside Splendor
Tuesday, 2/28: Pete Anderson
Wednesday, 2/29: Claire Stokes' Clarity Solutions
Thursday, 3/1: Caroline Picard's Green Lantern Press
Friday, 3/2: Ben Tanzer
I'll be posting updates here every day for the next two weeks, so I hope you'll get to follow along with the entire thing; and don't forget, the whole reason we're doing this is to bring new attention to Jason's fantastic, weird, dark "micro-story" collection Salt Creek Anthology, so if you've never checked it out I encourage you to stop by and download a copy right this minute, seriously go do it right now before you forget. And coming later this year, other virtual tours by Katherine Scott Nelson (in March), Ben Tanzer and Laura Szumowski (May), Sally Weigel (July), Lauryn Allison (September) and Amy Guth (November); so if you're a blogger and have an interest in participating in one or more of these tours (it's great publicity for your own projects as well, not just the author's), by all means please drop me a line at cclapcenter [at] gmail.com and let me know. Don't get too tired out on that information superhighway, Jason, and we look forward to all your daily stops over the next two weeks!
