It's day six of the Ben Tanzer/Laura Szumowski virtual book tour for The New York Stories! And in fact yesterday I wasn't able to get an update posted -- last night was the big release party for Lauryn Allison Lewis's solo/down, and prep work for it kept me busy all day long -- so today I actually have two links to share with you; not just today's video interview between Ben and his son Myles (a thing Ben does with every book he publishes), being hosted by our pals at Baby Got Books, but also a guest essay by Ben on the nature of social media and meta-projects, over at the great Burrow Press Review blog. I hope you'll have a chance to check out both of them on this warm Friday afternoon, and also to come back Monday when Ben will be talking with our buddy Mel Bosworth.
And speaking of last night's release party, it was a freaking blast -- co-sponsored and largely organized by our friends at Curbside Splendor, where Lauryn works as an editor, they've always been much better than CCLaP at getting asses into seats, so we had just a ton of people in attendance and sold almost $400 in books in a single evening. As always, we recorded the ten-person performance that took place in the middle of the party, so it'll be going up at the CCLaP Podcast in exactly five weeks from now. (The next four Mondays will be the rest of our live shows from our New York tour, with a break in the middle to feature a fascinating talk I recently had with Chicago lit-legend Joe Meno, about his new novel Office Girl coming out next week.) Thanks again to everyone who made it out on a gorgeous Thursday night, and especially to Cole's Bar in Logan Square for being so supportive and making us feel so welcome.
