Today's photography profile features the work of Camilla Storgaard, a fine-artist currently based out of Berlin. I asked Camilla if she would tell us a little more about herself, and here's what she had to say...
"Danish born Camilla Storgaard is a Berlin based emerging photographer and artist. Her experimental vision on the body, gender and sexuality takes you under the skin of the Berliners and follow closely the contours of their messy existences.
"Camilla is a self-taught photographer with a 2-year experience as artist-assistant at Studio Olafur Eliasson and founder/editor in chief on the online magazine 'CHAMELEON.'
"Camilla has for the last 3 years been working on the project 'Behind Shutters' about the beginning of her stay in Berlin till today. Moving here three years ago was breathtaking by all the new urban inputs and her art developed into whole new heights. Sexuality and gender became her new occupation and was expressed in every photo she took. The sexuality of berliners appeared to her as light topics and acts which seemed open and fluent to anyone she came by but after following and working with the people of the city, Camilla found out how the sexuality instead became distance, traumatised and not appreciated.
"Camila's works are a stretched line of trying to find her clearance of the sexual approach vs. The hidden, displaced and the attempts of the internal messy existences of Berlin.
"It's a story about body, drugs and love. Middlesex of Berlin. Beyond faces and genders, Camilla's portraits have created outline her own above all. Free bodies sublimated by an accomplice, loving lens."
Danke, Camilla! Remember that Camilla has not only a personal website but also Flickr and Tumblr accounts, for those who would like to check out a lot more. (Be careful -- some of it is not safe for work.) To recommend a photographer yourself who you think should be featured here, just drop me a line at cclapcenter [at] gmail.com.
