Yippee! Only one month until CCLaP's inaugural summer writing camp begins! For those who don't know, this is our first attempt at offering classes and workshops through the center, something I hope to continue and expand with each passing year; for this first attempt, we're doing eight classes on writing subjects in four weeks, all based around specific themes, with it costing $100 per individual class (for working writers who might want to brush up on just one or two subjects) and $500 for the entire thing (for teens who are interested in adding something impressive to their college applications, and who simply want to become better writers). You do not have to be working on one large project in order to take these classes; but for those who are, we're also holding free Saturday workshops all month in August as well, open to the general public, where you can bring in your manuscript-in-progress and get feedback and notes, as well as participate in fun writing exercises and the like. The whole thing takes place at Uncharted Books in the Logan Square neighborhood (2630 N. Milwaukee -- that's it you're seeing in the above photos, during our first-ever physical get-together of the entire Summer School staff last weekend); the one-week courses take place every Tuesday through Friday in August, the odd-numbered ones from noon to 2 pm and the even-numbered ones from 2:30 to 4:30.

But wait! To encourage more people to participate, we're holding a clever little sale of sorts for all you website visitors; simply write us a note at cclapcenter [at] gmail.com on why you want to take these classes, and you'll receive a full 25 percent off your enrollment ($25 off for a single class, or $125 off the entire program), simply as a thank-you for your interest. The time left to do so is ticking away as we speak, so make sure to drop us a line right away!
